An Inconvenient Truth

Say something enough times and people start to believe it. (i.e Reasonable Doubt is a classic, yeah I said it) Perception is reality. Which brings us to the inconvenient truth of the NBA, they make decisions that alter games & the course of history.

Raise your hand if you remember the first round being best of 5…Raise your hand if you remember when that changed…Anyone remember the Lakers team coming off back to back titles, struggling & getting a not so favorable matchup, and all of a sudden the first round went from best of 5 to best of 7? History was altered. Anyone remember that same Lakers team being down in the conference finals before the worst officiated game in NBA history? History was altered.

Anyone remember Steve Nash being bodied into the scorers table to have key Suns players suspended for critical game? History altered. Anyone remember Chris Paul being traded to the Lakers? And then having it veto’d for basketball reasons. History altered, maybe.

Surely everyone remembers the kick to the growing in this years western conference finals. Followed by no suspension because maybe the Warriors wouldn’t be in the Finals now. History altered. Of course everyone remembers no game 5 with no Draymond Green because now it was convenient to suspend him & extend the series. Besides, it’s good to be the King. History altered?

Here’s some facts: 1. If someone stands over me on the court I’m getting frontational too, that’s disrespectful. As Mo Speights so eloquently stated,  “If somebody put they’ balls on your head, what are you supposed to do? Balls are on the back of his head. It’s kind of messed up, man, but hey.” 2. If you’re habitually jabbing dudes in their nuts you deserve what ya get.

Was it convenient to suspended the Nutcracker? Yup. Did alter the course of this series? Maybe. But the NBA has a history of making history altering decisions when convenient so it should come as no surprise. That’s the NBA’s incvenient truth.
